Michael Bassetti, MD, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Human Oncology, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health
Dr Bassetti is an Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a member of the Carbone Cancer Center. He was born in Seattle, Washington and graduated from the University of Washington. After graduation, Dr Bassetti worked in the biotech industry and in the University of Washington Department of Immunology where he fostered a strong interest in medicine and immunology. In 2008, Dr Bassetti obtained his combined medical and doctoral degrees as part of the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He then completed his medical internship in internal medicine and residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Michigan. He joined the faculty at University of Wisconsin, Madison in 2013. Dr Bassetti’s clinical and research work focuses on treatment of gastrointestinal (GI) and lung cancers with a focus on the interaction between ionizing radiation and the immune system. He is actively involved in clinical trials exploring the use of MRI-guided radiation and immune checkpoint inhibition in patients with limited metastatic disease.
