Purpose: This presentation will discuss drivers of quality in the departments of radiation oncology at University of Iowa and Rutgers University specifically focusing on patient satisfaction and patient safety.
Methodology: This presentation will discuss drivers of quality in the departments of radiation oncology at University of Iowa and Rutgers University specifically focusing on patient satisfaction and patient safety. We will discuss the tools, process, results and provide examples of how the data is utilized to drive decision making and improve quality at each institution.
Results: Patient satisfaction data and patient safety data help senior leadership detect progress or regression over time, provides objective data to support subjective impressions and facilitates frank discussions with department leadership – all contributing to quality improvements.
Conclusions: Utilization of patient satisfaction data and patient safety data can be a driver of quality improvements, staff satisfaction, and can help to integrate radiation oncology departments and improve quality of care across a network.
